How to Backup Your Minecraft Server
Backups protect your world from mistakes, crashes, or power cuts. In this article you will learn a simple backup routine you can follow on any setup so you can recover quickly.
Keep it simple and regular
Back up before big changes and after big sessions. A good habit is to take a copy once a day during active play and once a week otherwise. More is better, but regular is the goal.
What to copy
Copy the entire server folder or at least the world and config folders. Include the mods or plugins folder if you rely on a specific set. Name backups with the date so you know which one to restore.
Where to store backups
Keep at least one backup off your main drive. Use an external drive or a cloud folder. Store more than one version if you can, so you can roll back further than one day when needed.
How to restore
Stop the server cleanly. Replace the current world folder with a copy from your backup. Start the server and test with one or two friends before a big session. Keep the previous state for a day in case you need to switch back.
